The Glorious Qur’an Chapter 2 The Cow (Al-Baqarah) in 286 verses
{101}: And when a messenger of Allah Glory to Him in the highest came to them confirming what already was with them, some of them, who were given the Book, ignored it and threw the Book of Allah Glory to Him in the highest away behind their backs as if they did not know [what it was].
{102}: And they followed whatever [witchery and spell] the devils quoted during the kingdom of Solomon, yet Solomon did not disbelieve but the devils who were teaching the people magic disbelieved. They were also following what was sent down to Hārüt and Mārüt, [two angels at Babylon]. Neither of them would teach anyone unless they [first] said, “We are only a temptation, so do not disbelieve [and whatever we teach you leads you nowhere but to blasphemy]!” However, people were learning from them what would separate a man from his wife, though they could not harm anyone through it except with the permission of Allah Glory to Him in the highest. They were picking up what would harm them, but not benefit them. They were quite certain that the buyers of the spell would have no share [of pleasure] in the Hereafter; if only they knew how wretched was what they had sold themselves for! {103}: But if they had believed and guarded against evil, [Allah would give them a reward, then such a] reward from Allah Glory to Him in the highest would have been better [for them] – but only if they had known.
{104}: O you who believe, [when you wish to draw the attention of Messenger Glory Peace be upon him to you] do not say, (rā’inā) meaning, “Herd us,*” but say: “Watch over us and listen [please,]” [otherwise], the disbelievers will have a painful punishment.
{105}: Neither the people of the Book, who have lost faith, nor the polytheists would like any good to be sent to you from your Creator -Nurturer Lord, but Allah Glory to Him in the highest selects anyone He desires for His Grace; and Allah Glory to Him in the highest owns a mighty Grace. ………………..…………………………………………………………………………………… * ‘rā’inā’ has two meanings: ‘herd and care for us’, or ‘listen and watch over us”, in this verse the second one is relevant.
{106}: We do not cancel any [preceding] Verse (of Us), nor let it be forgotten unless We bring something superior, or similar to it. Do you not know that Allah Glory to Him in the highest is Capable of [doing] everything!
{107}: Do you not know that the Dominion of the heavens and the earth is only for Allah Glory to Him in the highest, and that besides Allah Glory to Him in the highest there is no any guardian or supporter for you!
{108}: Perhaps you want to ask your Messenger Peace be upon him [such irrelevant requests concerning miracles] in the manner that Moses was asked [by his people]! Anyone who changes faith for unfaithfulness has indeed gone astray from the straight path.
{109}: Many of the people who believe in the Book, though the Truth has become clear to them, would like out of envy for themselves, to turn you back into disbelief. Yet forget and disregard [the ignorance of them] until Allah Glory to Him in the highest brings His Command, for indeed Allah Glory to Him in the highest is Capable of [doing] everything.
{110}: So [stick to your faith and] keep up [the five times daily] prayer, and pay the due welfare tax; then you will find any good you have sent ahead for you is already with Allah Glory to Him in the highest. In fact, Allah Glory to Him in the highest sees what you do.
{111}: And they claim: “Never will a man enter paradise unless he is a Jew or a Christian.” These are just of their desires! (O Prophet,) tell them: “Bring the proof of yours if you are truthful.”
{112}: Of course one who submits himself to Allah Glory to Him in the highest and does good, [but for the sake of Allah,] will be rewarded by his Creator -Nurturer Lord – (such men) will have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve.
{113}: And the Jews say, “The Christians are wrong, [their faith is baseless,]” and the Christians say, “It is the Jews who have [baseless religion and] are misguided,” yet both of them recite the (same) Book. [On the other hand,] the ignorant also say similar things. Thus, Allah Glory to Him in the highest will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning what they have been differing.
{114}: [Another enmity of them to Islam was that they prevented Muslims entering the mosques to pray so they are blamed]: ‘Who can be more unjust than someone who prevents the name of Allah Glory to Him in the highest being mentioned in the mosques of Him, and tries to ruin them?’ Such people should not even enter those [places of worship] except in fear; there will be disgrace for them in this world and they will face great punishment in the Hereafter .
{115}: The East and the West belong to Allah Glory to Him in the highest, so wherever you face, it is the countenance of Allah Glory to Him in the highest – in fact, Allah is the Knowing Bounteous.
{116}: And they say: “Allah Glory to Him in the highest has taken a son!” Glory be to Him! Whatever in the heavens and whatever on the earth exists is His Own. All things belong to him and are obedient to Him.
{117}: The (Sole) Originator of the heavens and the earth is (He), when He desires of a concept, He merely Commands it ‘Be!’ and it is there [at once].
{118}: Then those lacking of knowledge (pagans) say: “Why then Allah Glory to Him in the highest does not speak to us [instead of Prophet,] or even send a Miracle to us!” The preceding people had also said so – their hearts are alike. We have well explained Our Signs to the people who are certain.
{119}: (O Messenger,) We have indeed sent you as a bearer of good news [to the believers] and a warning [to the disbelievers] – you will never be questioned about the inmates of the Blazing Flames.
{120}: (O Prophet,) neither the Jews nor the Christians will be pleased with you until you follow their religion. Say: “Guidance is only the Guidance of Allah Glory to Him in the highest! [In addition, know that] if you follow their desire after the knowledge has come to you, you will be devoid of the guardian and the support of Allah Glory to Him in the highest.
{121}: Those to whom We have given the Book recite it in such a way that it should be recited: they believe in it – but those who reject it, it is they who are the losers.
{122}: O Children of Israel, remember the blessing [and bounty] of Mine that I bestowed on you, and that I exalted you upon the nations [of your own era]. {123}: And beware of the [torment of the] Day when no person will stand for another, and neither ransom will be accepted, nor intercession will avail him; and they will not be supported.
{124}: And [remember] that when the Creator -Nurturer Lord of Abraham tested him by means of some words of Commands and he fulfilled them: He stated: “I am going to set you as a guide for mankind,” he asked, “What about my offspring?” He stated “Never does My pledge apply to the wrongdoers.” {125}: And [remember that] when We set the House (of Kæ’bæ) as a place of resort and a sanctuary for mankind, and [Commanded,] “Take Abraham’s Station as a place for prayer.” We entrusted Abraham and Ishmael with cleaning out My House for those who go around it and stay or shelter about, or those who bow down to prostrate.
