The Glorious Qur’an Chapter 2 The Cow (Al-Baqarah) in 286 verses
{176}: That [punishment] is because Allah Glory to Him in the highest has sent down the Book in Truth, but indeed those who disagree about the Book, are much too far from the Truth.
{177}: 'Virtue' does not [simply] mean turning your faces towards the East and the West [when praying], rather virtue means that one should believe in Allah Glory to Him in the highest , the Last Day, the angels, the Book and Messenger Peace be upon him. And no matter how much one loves his wealth, he gives [some good portion of it] in the way of Allah Glory to Him in the highest to their relatives, orphans, the needy, the wayfarer and the beggars, and to free captives; and to keep up prayer and pay the due welfare tax. Also [the benefactors are] those who when promising something to keep their word, and those who remain patient under any suffering, hardship and in time of violence; those are the ones who are true [to their covenant], and they are the true believers.
{178}: O you who believe, the law ‘how to retaliate in punishment’ is prescribed for you in cases of the murders: [That is] a free man for the free man, the slave for the slave, and the female for the female. But if any of the murdered (person’s) relatives forgives in any way his brother, should follow this up appropriately and gracefully make amends with him; that means a lightening [in punishment] and Mercy from your Sole Creator. Therefore, after that if anyone exceeds the limit, he will have a painful punishment.
{179}: O you the men of reason, there is [security of] life for you in [such] retribution, so that [by performing your religious duty in confidence] they may become heedful of Him.
{180}: It has been prescribed for you that when [the signal of] death draws near any of you who has left property behind, should make a proper will for his parents and near relative – it is a duty upon all the pious.
{181}: Then if anyone, [either of the witnesses or the testator,] who has heard that (request) alters it, the whole sin will fall upon those who make the change – [but the testator gets his reward from Allah]; for Allah Glory to Him in the highest is the Knowing Hearer.
{182}: But one who fears, [and is suspicious], of a testator to be unjust or transgressor, and thereupon he makes peace between the parties concerned, there will be no blame on him – for Allah Glory to Him in the highest is the Gracious Oft-forging.
{183}: O you who believe! Fasting has been prescribed for you just as it was prescribed to those prior to you, so that they may become heedful of Him.
{184}: [Fasting is appointed] for some fixed days,* but anyone who is ill or [he is] on a journey [should choose] a number of other days [later to fast]. For those who are unable [because of old age or illnesses] each one has to feed a poor man for each day. It is even better for anyone who can do a good deed of his free will – although it is better for you to fast if you only knew.
{185}: [The prescribed days are in] the Month of Ramadan in which the Holy Qur’an has been sent down as guidance and as a Standard for man. So any of you who is present at home during the month, has to go on fasting; while anyone who is ill or is on a journey should [set an equal] number of other days to fast. Allah Glory to Him in the highest wants things to be easy for you; He does not want any hardship for you. You must complete the [appointed] number of days and glorify the Greatness of Allah Glory to Him in the highest because He has guided you and you should become grateful to Him [for His endless Favour].
{186}: And when my worshippers ask you about Me [whether I am near or far to them, let them know that] I am close [to them]. I respond to the invocation of a prayerful one when he appeals to Me – now, let them respond to Me and believe in Me so that they may be led aright.
………………………………… * The whole month of Ramadan
{187}: You are permitted to have physical contact with your wives on the nights of the Fast – you are screen for them and so are they screen for you. Allah Glory to Him in the highest knows how deceitful you were with yourselves, so He has relented towards you and forgiven you. Now [on the nights of the Fast feel free to] associate with them and seek what Allah Glory to Him in the highest has appointed for you. Eat and drink until you can make out the white streak of dawn from the black tread [of light] at daybreak. Then go on fasting again until the nightfall and do not associate with women while you have secluded at your devotions in the mosques. These are the limits of Allah Glory to Him in the highest on you, so do not attempt to cross them. Thus Allah Glory to Him in the highest explains His Signs to mankind so that [through their good deeds] they may become heedful [of Him].
{188}: And do not devour each another’s property for vanities – [in any illegal ways such as: robbery, stealing or gambling,] nor bribe the judges in order you may consume a share of someone’s wealth immorally while you (yourselves) know [what you do].
{189}: (O Prophet,) they ask you about the phases of the new moon [why it changes in appearance,] so say: “They serve as datelines for mankind to show the fixed period of time as well [the appointed time of] the pilgrimage. It is neither proper, nor virtue for you to enter (your) houses through the backdoors, but virtue lies in doing one’s duty; so step into (your) houses through the [front] doors, and be heedful of Allah Glory to Him in the highest so that you may succeed.
{190}: And fight in the cause of Allah Glory to Him in the highest with those who fight against you, yet do not initiate hostilities [and do not kill the women, children, old, and the ailing] for Allah Glory to Him in the highest does not like the transgressors.
{191}: And [when the war erupts] kill them wherever you come face to face, and expel them from anywhere (in Mecca) they have expelled you, since the sedition is more grievous than killing. Yet do not fight them at the Hollowed Mosque unless they fight you there. If they should fight you, then fight them back – such is the recompense for the disbelievers.
{192}: However, if they stop [aggression and repent you also stop, Allah will forgive them] for Allah Glory to Him in the highest is the Mercy-giving Forgiving. {193}: And fight them until there is no more sedition left, and all religion belongs to Allah Glory to Him in the highest. However, if they stop [fighting,] let the hostility settle, but only against the wrongdoers.
{194}: [Fighting in] a sacred month is for a sacred month – [if the enemy breaks the respects and fights you, you can retaliate] there is compensation for breaking the respects. If the enemy starts fighting in any sacred month, you also attack them to the same extent as they have attacked you, but be heedful of Allah Glory to Him in the highest and know that Allah Glory to Him in the highest stands by the pious.
{195}: Donate in the cause of Allah Glory to Him in the highest, and do not destroy yourselves [by not spending in Allah’s way]; and be virtuous, [for] indeed Allah Glory to Him in the highest holds dear the virtuous.
{196}: And [sincerely] perform the pilgrimage of Hæjj and Umræh for the sake of Allah Glory to Him in the highest. If [by any reasons] you are prevented from performing it then make an offering available. Do not shave your heads until after offerings have reached their destination. For any one of you who is ill or has some rash on his head, he should, in compensation, either fast or feed the poor, or offer sacrifice later when he feels safer, anyone (of you) who is enjoying Umræh along with the pilgrimage should [send along] whatever may make available in the form of offering. One who does not find anything [available] should fast three days during the pilgrimage and seven [more] days when he is back – that means just ten. That is for a person whose household does not live about the Hollowed Mosque. So be heedful of Allah Glory to Him in the highest and know that Allah Glory to Him in the highest is severe in retribution.
{197}: The [Hajj] Pilgrimage is performed during the specific months (of Shæwwāl, Zul-qæ’dæ and Zul-hijja). Anyone undertakes the pilgrimage during those months, should not have sexual relations – neither [should] commit sins nor involve quarrelling during the pilgrimage. Allah Glory to Him in the highest knows any good deed you may do. So make provision and [remember that] the best provision is doing your duty. Thus, you, the sensible, only be heedful of Me.
{198}: There shall not be a sin upon you if you look for the bounty of your Creator -Nurturer Lord [so, seek for trade if you wish so]. Then when you leave ‘Aræfāt’ remember Allah Glory to Him in the highest at the Hollowed Mountain (of Mæsh’ær) – and remember Him as He guided you aright for you were like those who had gone astray before.
{199}: Then return from where [is called Aræfāt with] people who are returning, and seek for the forgiveness of Allah Glory to Him in the highest, for Allah Glory to Him in the highest is the most All-merciful Forgiving.
{200}: Then when you finish the [pilgrimage] rites, remember Allah Glory to Him in the highest, just as you remember your fathers – still more fervently remember Allah Glory to Him in the highest. There are some men who say: “O our Creator -Nurturer Lord! Give us [of Your Bounties] in this world” – thus, there is no share for those [people] in the Hereafter.
