{226}: Those who take oaths to abstain from [having sexual contact with] their wives, should wait for four months. If, during that period, they change their minds, then [concerning their breach of promise,] Allah Glory to Him in the highest is All-merciful Forgiving.

{227}: However, if they insist on a divorce, [there will be no blame on them] for Allah Glory to Him in the highest is the Knowing Hearer.

{228}: Then the divorced women should do without partners for three menstrual periods; it is not lawful for them to hide what Allah Glory to Him in the highest has created in their wombs if they believe in Allah Glory to Him in the highest and the Last Day. In addition, their husbands must reconcile them if they really want the reconciliation. Women have the same [right in relation with their husbands] as are expected in all decency from them, while men stand a step above them. Allah Glory to Him in the highest is the Wise Mighty [and He Commands in a way that His creatures can cope with].

{229}: [The returnable] divorce is but only twice, and then you should either return to your wife in all decency, or else part from her with all kindness. It is not lawful for you to ask for what you have given [as a marriage portion or gift] to a woman unless both parties fear they will not keep within the limits of Allah Glory to Him in the highest. If you suspect that they will not keep within the limits of Allah Glory to Him in the highest, then there is no blame on either of them if she pays something to get herself free [from the wedlock]. Such are the limitations of Allah Glory to Him in the highest, so do not exceed them; those who exceed the limits of Allah Glory to Him in the highest then it is they who are the wrongdoers.

{230}: Therefore, if a man divorces his wife [for the third time,] he is not allowed to remarry her until she marries a second husband [in between]. Then if this [man also] divorces her, there is no blame on either of them if they return to one another – provided that they both think they can keep within Allah Glory to Him in the highest 's bounds. Thus, these are the bounds of Allah Glory to Him in the highest, which He explains to men of knowledge.

{231}: And when you divorce women and they reach the end of their appointed period, then either return them decently or part from them in a good manner. That is do not keep them just for annoyance; anyone who acts so merely hurts himself, and do not take the Signs of Allah Glory to Him in the highest as a joke! And remember the Grace of Allah Glory to Him in the highest upon you and [remember] whatever He has sent done to you of the Book and wisdom for your instruction. So be heedful of Allah Glory to Him in the highest, and know that Allah Glory to Him in the highest has full knowledge of everything.

{232}: And when you divorce women and they reach the end of their appointed period, do not bar them from marrying their [previous] husbands [or anyone else] – if they both agree to do so with proper formalities among themselves. Whoever among you believes in Allah Glory to Him in the highest and the Last Day is advised to do thus; that is the safest way to secure happiness [and bar the family from corruption] – for Allah Glory to Him in the highest knows [what is fitting for you,] while you know not.

{233}: And mothers should suckle their babies for two full years – that is for such [a mother] who wants to complete the suckling. However, a [child’s] father must help the woman and clothes them [both]with honour. Yet no one is to be tasked more than what he can cope with. Neither a mother should be made to suffer because of her baby, nor any father because of his child. An heir has the same [duties] in that respect. If they both prefer to wean (the baby) when they have agreed on terms and consulted together, there is no sin upon you, provided you hand over decently what you may have given in. Moreover, be heedful of disobeying Allah Glory to Him in the highest and know that Allah Glory to Him in the highest is seeing what you do.

{234}: And those of you (men) who die and leave [their] wives behind, (the women) must hold themselves back for four months plus ten days. Then when they reach the end of their terms, you are not responsible for them if they may dispose themselves for due formalities [to remarry]. For Allah Glory to Him in the highest is well aware of what you do.

{235}: And there is no sin on you (men) about what you may propose in the way of becoming engaged to such [divorced or widowed] women, or may keep to yourselves; Allah Glory to Him in the highest knows what you imagine in your mind. However, do not propose them anything secretly unless you express a formal statement. In addition, do not resolve on wedlock until the decree has become final; and know that Allah Glory to Him in the highest knows what is in your mind, so beware of Him – and know that He is All-lenient Oft-forgiving.

{236}: There is no sin on you if [for any reasons] you want to divorce the women whom you have not touched, nor appointed her any dowry. Yet provide for them [acceptable gifts]. A well-to-do [should present] according to his capacity, and a poor according to his; a reasonable amount of gift is a duty on those who do good deeds.

{237}: And if you divorce a woman before you have had any [sexual] contact with her, and already appointed her a dowry, then [give her] half of what you have appointed (her) unless she agrees to forgive it, or the man in whose hand lies the marriage knot forgives it – whatever you forgive is near to piety. So do not forget to be generous with one another; for sure, Allah Glory to Him in the highest sees what you do.

{238}: Be precise about your prayers, [especially] the middle prayer,* and stand up modestly to [worship] Allah Glory to Him in the highest.

{239}: If you fear [enemies or any dangers,] you can pray while you are riding or on foot, but [then] glorify Allah Glory to Him in the highest [and keep up prayer] as soon as you feel safer. Remember Allah Glory to Him in the highest for He has taught you what you did not know.

{240}: Those of you who die and leave [their] widows behind, should prepare a will for them concerning provision for a year without having them leave [homes]. Then, if they leave home [on their will,] you are not to blame in respect of they may dispose themselves in all decency – [concerning their conditions] thus, [know that] Allah Glory to Him in the highest is the Wise All-mighty.

{241}: And there should be some provision [by husband] for the divorced women to live with in comfort – that is a duty binding on the pious.

{242}: Thus Allah Glory to Him in the highest explains His Signs to you, so that you may reason it out.

{243}: (O Prophet,) have you not heard [the story] of those thousands of people who left their homes [so that not to go to the Holy War, and] to escape the death! Allah Glory to Him in the highest Commanded them: “Die!” [They died,] then He revived them. Allah Glory to Him in the highest is indeed full of Bounty for humankind, even though most people are not grateful.

{244}: Then fight in the cause of Allah Glory to Him in the highest and know that Allah Glory to Him in the highest is the Knowing Hearer.

{245}: Who is [such a man] to lend a good loan [to the needy] in the cause of Allah Glory to Him in the highest, so that He compounds it for him many times? And Allah Glory to Him in the highest withholds and bestows [bounties and sustenance] and to Him you will return.

* The noon prayer, [which is sometimes neglected to be prayed on due time, only because of man’s occupations during the day

** An unknown illness had spread among the people, which were regarded as the Divine Punishment engulfing them for their refusal to fight in the path of Allah.

{246}: (O Prophet,) have you not heard [the story of] the chiefs of Israel after Moses who said to a messenger of theirs, “Appoint us a king [so that with his command] we can fight in the cause of Allah Glory to Him in the highest.” He said, “Perhaps you will not fight even though fighting has been prescribed for you.” They said: “There is no reason (for us) to stop [fighting] in the cause of Allah Glory to Him in the highest; now that we have been turned out from our homes and families!”

However, when it was appointed (for them) to fight nearly all of them turned away, so Allah Glory to Him in the highest is Aware of the wrongdoers.

{247}: And their messenger told them, “Allah Glory to Him in the highest has sent Saul as a king for you.” They said: “How could he govern over us when we are more suitable to govern than he is? And he has not been granted wealth either!” He said, “Allah Glory to Him in the highest has chosen him for you and given him plenty of knowledge and physique. Allah Glory to Him in the highest gives His kingdom to anyone He desires; for Allah Glory to Him in the highest is the Knowing Bounteous!”

{248}: And their prophet told them: “Indeed the sign of his kingship will be the ark carried to you by the angels of Allah Glory to Him in the highest * containing Serenity from your Creator -Nurturer Lord, and also some relics which Moses’ houses and Aaron’s houses have left behind. There is a Sign for you in that if you are the true believers.”

………………………………………………..…………………………………………………………………………………

* It was the remain of the wooden box Moses mother had left him in before leaving the box to the sea. Later, when he became a prophet, Moses put Allah’s bestowing Tablets, known as Ark, in it.

{249}: Then [after they appointed him as a chieftain for the Israel’s army,] and Saul was setting out with the armies, he told (them): “Allah Glory to Him in the highest will test you by the means of a river. If anyone drinks from it, he will not be on my side, but while anyone who does not drink from it, or those who scoop up only a full-palm in their hands will remain with me.” Yet all of them except a few drank from it!

When he crossed the river with the believers with him, they said: “We have no way today to prevail over Goliath and his armies.” However, those who were certain that they were going to meet Glory to Him in the highest said: “How often had a small army defeated a large army with the permission of Allah Glory to Him in the highest, because Allah Glory to Him in the highest stands by the patient.

{250}: And when they encountered with Goliath and his [huge] force, they prayed: “Our Creator -Nurturer Lord! Fill us full of patience and brace our feet, and support us against such faithless people.”
